Redang Day 1 - Part 1

Then... WE ARE HERE!
We have to transfer from the main boat, to another "smaller" boat which will send us straight to the beach for a beach-arrival! Cool nya?

We're finally on the island! Yeah!
3 years... 3 long years... i'm here!! *kisses the sand*

Ehem... so we got to our resort, Redang Beach's lobby to be briefed. We have to wait for awhile before our rooms are ready, so we hang out around the resorts area while waiting (do you realize we waited a bloody lot?)!
But anyways, i was too happy to be able to contain my excitement, i practically pranced around the whole place like i own it XD!

The view of the beach from the lobby! EAST SEA YO!

BIMBO AND POSER SPOTTED!

Credits: Amanda
We went to have some "small-snack" nearby while waiting. I had lo mai kai, very yummy! Er... the picture... is in my stomach?
Here's some bimbo's pic as offering for forgetting to take pictures of food =P!

Credits: Amanda
Well, i guess that time we are a little tired as well (especially me), although still very excited, that i didn't take much picture then, and i kept digging my feet into the soft sand while eating! I LOVE THAT COOL SANDY FEELING!

This is our room:
E24!

Well, we did take a few shots of us at our room's balcony, but i decided to keep it private for now =D!

We rested for awhile, and then proceeded to rent our snorkeling gear. We also got some advice from the lobby on where is best to snorkel off-shore, and finally decided to go snorkeling off Shark Bay!
Thats where i realize i actually can get seasick... but still ok nya lar, not so bad. We also tried teaching Jing Wen to snorkel at that time.

I was a bit disappointed because i anticipated snorkeling most... but too bad i'm seasick prone (but strangely, not on boat, but rather while snorkeling)... i wanted to see sea turtles so badly...

Anyways, come 2.30pm, it's time to snorkel!
We went somewhere quite near Pasir Panjang (where our resort is) to snorkel, somewhere south-bound for 5 minutes or so? And then er... while snorkeling for awhile i realize my seasick came back while i was floating around as the waves kept hitting me... so i quickly swim back to the boat, but still... er, puked upon getting back on boat... so then, i rested in the boat till we get back to the resort.

Fail.
So bloody freaking fail.

But still ok lar, after getting back to the resort i rested, then when i felt better again i abit gatal, that i insisted we get back to Shark Bay to snorkel, despite the fact i *know* the seasick will come back... but so what! The sea is far more important than small trivial matter such as puking!

And i saw BABY SHARK!! YEAH XD!!! So excited!! I puke again also worth-it!!!
Though that said, i went back up shore upon the slightest feeling of nausea, just-in-case!

After we're done snorkeling, we went back to our room to bath, then we went for dinner! It was BBQ dinner!
I love the fishballs! Yum!

Lols, it'll actually be so punny if we're BBQ-ing beef! Too bad, we're BBQ-ing mutton instead =P!

I was stuffed after dinner!! And the night was still too early to sleep, so we went over to Laguna's side to visit More-More Tea Inn!

Lols, introducing: "Ah Cow, Ah Monkey and Ah Pig."
*que sings Richie Ren, Michael Wong and Ah Niu's 浪花一朵"...*

Then we went to look for the blue sand!! We're lucky we manage to find it!!! YEAH!!!~

This is the famous blue sand!
Its so beautiful seriously, like blink blue lights on the sand!

It goes to show that, sometimes things doesn't need to last long just to be beautiful.

We didn't want to sleep just yet, so we went to play around at the hammock while listening to the live band.

Unfortunately, there's no such thing as Monkey on hammock. Hmm.

I actually have this recorded video of the live band singing the famous Redang song, 浪花一朵朵, with me singing along to it at the top of my lungs! Lols!

After we're done, we got back to the room to be retarded further, before retiring to bed for a long day tomorrow!

Next entry - Snorkeling at Marine Park!

Redang - pre-arrival

Arrival!

We arrived at KT at 5am. The travel agent i book with sent a representative to pick us up to get us to their agency's "rest house" to rest while we waited till 7.30am or so before we go to the jetty for our 9am boat.

Don't ask. It's a very crappy rest house. The ceiling-fan even sings.

The other two manage to get some sleep while waiting.

Amanda switching off the tee-vee so she could get some uninterrupted sleep (I so should've sang Thomas at her ear just to keep her awake - now i'm the only one who didn't sleep!).

Haha, don't ask about the cow and pig part either.

But i still couldn't sleep, so i ended up layaning myself playing with Squirt and Pearl, and taking pics.

Squirt was asking Pearl what are they doing in the this crappy place when they should be swimming in the sea!
I also got outside the rest house to walk around but... there was nothing.

Seriously, there was nothing.

Some other groups joined us at the rest house soon after. Then come 7.30am, the same guy came to send us to the jetty, where we still have to wait there for our boat to come (9am boat).

The jetty.

So Amanda and i went for some breakfast instead at some food place above the wet-market.

This picture was taken from the food place above the wet market.

Although i'm still in Malaysia, somehow or rather i feel just so out of place at KT. It feels as if i'm in another country! Maybe a north-south-east-west kinda thing?
But one things for sure, Malaysia will always be Malaysia! The breakfast was yummy! We had roti canai and limau nipis!

Apparently, in KT, Limau Ais is called Limau Nipis instead, and its way better than Limau Ais because the lime they use is the fragrant type! I like it much better! The roti was good too!

After breakfast, we got downstairs, and to our astonishment, we came across idiots-waiting-to-be-struck-by-lightning selling turtle eggs.
When we first got into the wet market before breakfast, we saw this banner that informs people of the sale of turtle eggs there. We didn't know we'll actually get to "witness" this disgusting trade of lives after our breakfast when more stalls are opened.
Amanda was the one who saw that stall and informed me. I was too dazed by my surrounding to noticed what happened.

Both of us, despite being the hypocritical conservationist-cum-environmentalist we are, we were heartbroken as we look at those idiots buying and selling the eggs, but there was nothing we can do.

What anger me most is that there are kids hanging out around there watching this "so-called" illegal trade (yeah, its illegal, but everyone there does it in the open, so its "so-called"). OMG the things we are teaching our younger generation.

Oh, and as we were walking back, there were actually police doing something (raiding?) at some shops opposite the wet market.
Wow, our police force are so efficient.

Anyways, back to HAPPIER THOUGHTS. We got back to the jetty and continue waiting.

I didn't sleep the whole night, so i didn't bother taking pics of myself then obviously!

When the boat arrived, we got ready to board it and TAKE OFF!

Crap, i'm so bloody short i could fit into a pot hole dug by a 1-year-old and nobody would notice.

Ooh, confusion!

The guy must be confused as to why a Pig and a Cow are allowed on board XD!

There is a upper and lower deck on the boat, and there are also mountains and seas of people going on that boat (lols). Not everyone can fit into one deck, but because as bimbos we insisted on taking the "VIP" seats on the upper deck (actually there are not "VIP" seats, they just name the upper deck so), we have to sit seperately.

Monkey seated in the middle row, Cow behind, and Pig at the row in-front across the aisle. Hence, Journey to the East.
(Go guess whose who, though its really obvious duh.)

It was a three-seater. I was seated on the aisle seat, and there was this couple seated inside. They left their seats (ask for excuse very courteously) just before i fell asleep, and then when i do FINALLY fell asleep, just about half and hour or so after, the couple wanted to come back in but didn't wake me up, so the girl just bumped into me that i woke up with a startled (= =").
But ok lar, she apologized. But still geram, i finally manage to sleep ok!!

Then later, Amanda got me to go outside to the sun deck to enjoy the wonderful sea breeze!
Which the minute i got outside i slipped and fall on my bum. So malu (= =").

Then after half-an-hour of non-stop camwhoring etc at the sun deck, which i live up to my Kid on Crack nickname, where i screamed and shouted and squealed like nobody's business till everybody looked at us.
Ah, wonderful (Amanda tried to act as if she doesn't know me. Too bad it didn't work.).

Should i post up the video of me screaming?? Heehee!

Then... from a distance i've already spotted somewhere i knew i would love even before i got there...

...
WE ARE HERE!

Squirt and Pearl.

Have you met Squirt and Pearl?

I'm sure you have!

My two precious!
They accompanied me to Redang to be the models for a photoshoot at a very beautiful place!

Prior to the trip, i've taken loads of preparation shots, pre-Redang trip, just to tease people who visits my Blog to let them wonder where i'll be going... but... i never get round posting it =P!

So anyways, here are some of the shots!

Pearl and Leader!
His for the month of June, what better to take pics of them together like that!

And also...

Squirt and Leader!
I love June! Best month of the year!

Squirt and Kyu!

Er...

Did you realize the first picture, apart from being all Disney characters only, all characters are also from beach-ocean-related animations?
Stitch in Hawaii, Nemo in Australia... and both are my favourite Disney cartoons as well (plus The Lion King)! Hahaha!

And finally...

A big family shot!
Sorta, missing a few other ones!~

I MISS REDANG!
Lols, random!

Coming up:
Redang Day 1 and more Squirt and Pearl's pics from Redang!

Redang - pre-arrival.

Lols, i'm posting my Redang trip even before i post my Korea trip... which is like... last February as opposed to Redang which was in June!

Because i'm superbly long-winded, and because i'm writing this in detail so i could remember everything even for years to come... all Redang posts will also be superbly long!

I want to write every single detail so every small detail will bring even the fondest memories (even the puking part)! Bear with me =D!

Ok, to start of, this trip is a trip which was planned over three years, and finally, after all the planning, it has finally materialized!

There may only be 3 of us, but it was still good! We enjoy each other's company so much we wanted to kill each other =D!

And oh we're so retarded, we give each other nicknames =D!
(Ok, maybe only me lols!)

Introducing the 3 retarded ones:
The Kid on Crack.

The one whose so happy to be there she constantly scream, hops and prances around without a care in the world, hence, the Kid on Crack. Along with Squirt and Pearl!
Constantly staring into the deep blue sea by the beach, felling in love with the place even before her feet touches the sand... and at the same time wondering if its possible for her to move and live there.

The Bimbotic Kid.

The one who attracted loads of attention due to her flabbishly hot body and bimbotic look that we got lotsa "first-class service"!
Hence, the Bimbotic Kid.
Constantly being er... bimbotic (no i'm serious).

The Lost Kid.

The one whose always er... lost.
But she's such a darling whose so outgoing and sporting all the time... such a sayang!
Hence, the Lost Kid.
Constantly lost. Lols.

Before we start, let me explain...
In case you're wondering whats with all the "abusing JingWen" part which will be coming soon... ehehe, let's just say JingWen is a darling who laps it all up and even play along with us!
See, Amanda and i have a bad habit of "abusing Jing Wen". In a way, we push every fault possible to her. Everything which happen is her fault, even if it rains.
If we want to throw anyone into the ocean it would be her, if we have anyone we want to beat up it would be her... in other words, she's the target of our abuse XD!~

So anyways, the trip begins with our bus at 10.30pm from Perhentian Duta. We arrived early with like... more than an hour to kill, so we just stand there and chit-chatted, abuse JingWen along the way, on what we're going to do in Redang, abuse JingWen, what we could do there, abuse JingWen and abuse JingWen even further. Fun!

Waiting at the bus station.
Lols, i remember the time during high school we use to call ourselves "S.H.E." (go figure whose who)! Ah, fun times XD!

Come 10.30pm, the bus arrived and we got on it.

The three of us by the bus. TAKE OFF!

Well, let's just say the bus ride there was very torturous. I can't sleep. I think i only manage to get in like what... half-an-hour, most is one-hour, of sleep until we reach Kuala Terrenganu's bus station. And it was a 6-8 hour bus journey.

My girls on the bus.
The initial sitting positions, till which that Bimbo cheated the Lost one to sit at her place, which was FREAKING COLD.
Like i said, the Lost one is a real darling.

The first 3 hours in the bus, Amanda and i were being retards in the bus, suddenly singing and laughing and all, that i'm very sure we annoy like... everyone in the bus till 2am when we decided we should get in some sleep before we appear like zombies in Redang.

But as said, i can't sleep. So i recorded some videos of myself talking while everyone else is fast asleep... and also counted the number of tolls we pass through just to reach KT.
Along the way, i realize how lucky Malaysians are because the whole journey to KT was smooth with beautiful roads and resthouses etc.
But gosh, the number of tolls... i counted a total of 4-5 tolls from KL to KT.

And just in case you're wondering, since i couldn't sleep, i also totally looked out the window and "witnessed" the whole journey from KL to KT. Except that few minutes which i manage to close my eyes just to be waken up again.

Grr.

kimchi coming out of me bag to say "Good night" before she sleeps. Stupid cat.

We stopped twice; once at a Petronas gas station for 10 minutes for everyone to pee, second time at this rest-stop place for 20-30 minutes where the 3 of us got burgers for super-late-supper (around 2am at Kawasan Rehat Bandar Baru Chendor). Yummy!

Back on bus... couldn't sleep. I don't know if i'm too excited, too tired i can't sleep, or i'm just being plain stupid not to rest before "the big day". Hmm...

Next up - Redang Day 1!

The way things could be.

I haven't been blogging.

Which is weird, considering that i always blab, ramble, etc... a bit a lot, and its just so weird not to... i think?
Guess this is just one of my writer's block week?

Oh well, once i'm back, i'll probably go back to my normal speed of 5 to more posts a day =D!

OUCH!
On the other hand, my feet hurts. Hmm... punny-ish.

And i don't know why.

Possibly from soaking in the water too long?

But its ticklishly fun =D!

Oh next week!
Hope it'll be fine by then (^^ )!

I love playing with water, but things they will do to me...

I think i'm turning old... i'm getting "wind-wet" (風濕 or Rheumatism? I remember there's another term in English for it, i just can't remember...). Lols.

Not like i care; i can be 80 years old and i'll still run to the beach (read: Redang) like a kid on crack.

Which i'm constantly reminded of that...

I AM ONE.

Redang posts coming up... soon... i think!

The Sound of Music.

Watching my nephews stoning while watching Thomas etc, it reminded me of when i was a kid, my mother also does so with this one particular video tape (last time no VCD lar).
She'll just switch it on and i'll stone in front of it while she is free to do her stuffs with no worries.

The Sound of Music.

Yeah, i'm one of those kids who'll stone in front of the television while watching it.
And i think i watched that tape too much till it spoil... and my mom got sick of it so didn't buy back? Or either it got lost when we shifted house...?

Eitherways, as i grew up i just forgotten how much i'm fond of that film, furthermore with the likes of Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty to distract me (stone further)... but now remembering back... yeah, i really used to like that show =)!

I should go buy it back to watch i guess =D!

Childhood reminiscence!

Complicatedly difficult, thank you very much.

Edit: Coming back from Carl's Jr makes me smell like something deep-fried.

Leatherback Turtles are back! Hopefully!

I'm very happy =D!

Leatherbacks are returning to Malaysia!

Credit: The Star Online

I hope this time round, the government will make an effort to help conserve this species, as it is a critically endangered species (close to extinction), a highly sensitive one, and may soon be gone before we even know it.

In fact, they are thought to have been extinct due to really rare sightings of Leatherbacks!

Do you know that in the 1950's, thousands and hundreds of Leatherbacks (11,000 as recorded in 1950's) used to come to the shores of Rantau Abang, Terengganu, to nest?
Thanks to the turtles, it has generated tons of money or income for the locals. Loads of tourists traveled there just to catch a sight of this rare species (well, maybe not as "rare" that time?). Rantau Abang is... well, used to be... a very famous tourist destination.

However, with lots of tourists traveling to that area, it also brings a lot of noises and commotions, lights, sounds and rubbishs... which frighten the turtles.
Apart from that, there are also reports where those idiotic brainless tourist actually abuse the animals as it was coming on shore, or 'landing'. Turtles are extremely sensitive creatures who are not used to such stress.

At that time, the government did nothing to control the tourists from "flooding" the place (no rangers to patrol the area, everyone free to do whatever they want). The locals take the turtles for granted and exploited them to make as much money possible without caring for their welfare, that ultimately, the turtles stop coming to the shores of Rantau Abang.

Without the turtles, Rantau Abang, this once famous tourist destination, has fallen into nothing more than a mere quiet town, a ghost town. Many of its tourism spots and resorts are now abandoned, and what use to be a busy seaside resort paradise is nothing more than a mere fishing village now.

Credits: JourneyMalaysia.com

Do you know just last year (2007), there was totally no nestings from the Leatherbacks at all at Rantau Abang? Imagine that, just within the span of 50 years or so, from thousands of them to now zero. Gosh, Malaysians amazes me.

As the turtles has stopped nesting at Rantau Abang altogether, this has also stopped tourist income for the locals, which leads to it being the abandoned town it is now. Rantau Abang has seen its heydays. From a once popular tourist spot, to a place where people will just drive through in search of other better tourism destination.

Credits: JourneyMalaysia.com

Though the beaches remain as beautiful, it also serves as a reminder of how humans can actually push an animal to the brink of extinction. How the consequence has also severely effected the humans who caused this in the first place.

If you ask my opinion, a bit the padan muka lor.
Imagine if Rantau Abang is actually still a famous hot-spot for Leatherback nestings? Malaysia will actually have a place to boast about, because after all, how many countries can actually offer nature tourists spots?

Its something given, not created.
Its something you cannot take for granted, you have to appreciate it otherwise if its gone, its gone, and possibly forever.

This happens when you take things for granted.

ps: Lols, this two article (here and here) amazes me!
It's the exact same article as the one by The Star, but whats different is the accompanying picture.

Where The Star's accompanying picture with the article is a REAL Leatherback Turtle, the other two articles used pictures of Green Turtle hatchlings instead!!

Or so i think it should be, i'm no turtle expert (then again maybe i am lols), but i am very sure it's definitely not Leatherback hatchlings (click on link to see picture of real Leatherback hatchlings)!
