I really don't know what to say ler, except real shock, apart from the fact that the news came too sudden... its just unbelievable... and to think of it, i just saw him on tee-vee last week while watching The Crocodile Hunter, even though its probably an old episode.
Its really a big loss to the environment, because he was such a passionate conservationist! To think the number of wildlifes he had directly and "indirectly" saved because of the message to conserve he has brought to the public, and probably all the other little kids and adults he had influenced with his passion to save the animals!
And honestly, not everyone can make a "documentary" such fun and lively to watch! As far as i love watching documentaries, The Crocodile Hunter was not only educational, but funny as well!
He is someone i really admire alot, for all his works for the wildlifes, all the conservation works and educating the public etc. I actually wanted to go to Queensland again just so i could visit Australia Zoo and actually get to see him in real life! However, i guess i lost that chance.
I don't know him, and of course, i've never met him, but i can say that he is someone who had "encouraged" me to be a more passionate conservationist myself.
It is important not to just conserve cute furry animals but all wildlifes in general, even though they may not look "cute" or "beautiful" for the average human.
Yeah, thinking back, he is probably the one who had influenced me to feel that Crocodiles are cute, and i seriously feel Crocodiles are cute now, despite everyone who might disagree on what i said...
"This is because it is through understanding that there is respect." - eiko-chan
I don't have any "bad perceptions" towards any animals, because there is understanding. And because i understand that i had respect for the animals, which leads to me to be able to "see beyond" how they looked physically.
Haha, not everyone can understand this, because its something probably only "serious and real" conservationists may get.
And yes, i'm stereotyping =P! Mwehehe!
As what Mr Moaz said, its "human mentality" to like "cute furry animals".
See, i got side-tracked again, wth o(=v=")o...
Lets hope that the world will be a better place for all the animals, and as Steve Irwin has hoped, that all animals, especially the native Australian animals, will receive the rightful protection and conservation acts that they will not go on to the brink of extinction, especially the Crocs!
Condolence to his family for the lost, and may he rest in peace.
A salute to a true and great hero the world will never forget, Steve Irwin The Crocodile Hunter.
